Constructed Sediments, 2020

The project was created in collaboration with Benjamin Rask.

The project focused on the outer edge of Lynetten on Refshaleøen and proposed three site-specific stages as a contemporary layer for future performing arts.

Inspired by the technique of rammed earth, we investigated how local soil from Refshaleøen could be used as a building material, thereby connecting the architecture directly to the island’s artificially constructed foundation. The interventions were based on the site’s historical circular military structures and translated them into new spatial forms.

Through small-scale experiments with soil samples, we explored colour
variations and tactile surfaces. The weathering properties of the material highlighted the balance between permanence and transformation and reflected the atmosphere of Refshaleøen.
